Be Creative | Store Windows
Have you ever been to New York City during the holidays? If you have, hopefully, you took the time to view all the fun and creative window displays. Ever wonder how and why this started?
It actually began in the late 1800s. Macy’s in New York created one of the first-holiday window displays in 1874. Soon after, in the early 1900s, decorating store windows became a key way to lure shoppers into their store.
Many shops around the world continue to decorate their store windows, especially during the holidays, in hopes to dazzle the shopper and entice them to stop and come inside. Here are some tips and how-tos to make your store windows the best on the street:
Great way to increase brand awareness. Know your brand’s audience and tell a story using the display. A passerby can interact with your store without ever stepping foot and at the same time lure them in to shop.
Promote Specials. Use the window displays to promote specific products, but also specials you may be having. This is a sure way to get the shopper’s attention and to bring them inside.
Simple and inexpensive. Take the money you may have used for expensive advertising and use it for your store window display. (especially for the holiday season)
Place a focal point at eye level. Ask yourself “what do I want people to see?” Use that information and create your focal point at eye level to catch the shopper’s attention right away.
Have fun and be creative! This is a great way to show your creativity while creating a fun experience for the shopper.
Creating captivating window displays for retail stores can be a wildly effective tool when it comes to increasing foot traffic and hopefully resulting in more sales. They allow you to create a branded, exciting customer experience before they even come into the store. source
