Shop Small Business
As one writer put it, “ not to sugarcoat it, but 2020 was a moldy sourdough starter engulfed in a forest fire.”
We are living through historical and unprecedented times. As we are forced to hunker down, the holiday season looks and feels much different. Now more than ever we need to support small businesses. Here are 6 ways you can support small businesses during Covid-19:
Purchase GIFT CARDS and certificates. This is one way to immediately put cash in the pockets of your local small business. Later, you can visit your favorite store and use the gift card. Many stores also have an online presence, so you use it there.
SHOP LOCAL. Not just for Christmas gifts, but for all your necessities. When you need to stock up on household items, shop at your local hardware store, pharmacy, or small grocery store.
Order FOOD to GO. If you do not feel comfortable eating inside a restaurant, and it is now too cold to eat outside, order the food to go. Restaurants will be relying on this to survive during these colder months.
TIP a little extra. If you are ordering food for delivery, tip a little more. Even if you drive to pick it up, make sure you leave a tip. This kind of gesture goes a long way in these very trying times.
SHARE. Social Media is a great platform to spread the word about your great local businesses. Leave a good review for a restaurant you love and tag them. Encourage your friends and followers to visit that restaurant or your favorite store. This does not cost anything and these positive comments and posts go a long way for businesses.
When this is over, look to the future. Make a note about stores you really want to visit and make sure you support them when this virus becomes more in the background and we begin to live a somewhat normal life.
