Jewelry By Roz | My Story
The Desire to Make Jewelry Has Always Been My Passion
Born in London, my parents moved the family to Washington, D.C., by way of Newfound, Montreal, and Chicago. The diversity of those experiences and the many landscapes I encountered shaped my aesthetic, and inspire my work today.
I developed a passion for making jewelry as a young adult while working for an artist in my Washington, D.C., neighborhood. I attended college, where I studied classic literature and photography at New York University. As a new graduate, I tried a number of professions; however, the desire to create jewelry continued to call out to me.
I lived and worked in Chicago for a decade, where I rekindled my love of jewelry design and bead and wire techniques. While there, I worked and trained in silversmith techniques at Lil Street Art Center, and began selling my bead and wire creations in local stores.
In 2004, I again settled in the D.C. area. Jewelry By Roz was established in 2006, and I have been creating jewelry and building my business since.
I get my inspiration from my everyday surroundings and the shapes and colors of the stones and other media I use in my jewelry as well as my two daughters.
My name is Roz Lucas, and I am the designer and creator at Jewelry By Roz.
My jewelry is all handmade and consists of sterling silver and 14k gold-filled jewelry, accented with an array of colorful beads from around the world. In addition, I make a line of hand-crocheted necklaces with sterling silver uniquely designed silver pendants. I recently started working with Polymer Clay and have created a line of jewelry that incorporates these different techniques and materials into a cohesive look.
Jewelry By Roz features classic, one-of-a-kind pieces in beautiful colors and textures, for the stylish woman or girl who wants to show her unique look by wearing beautiful, delicate, handmade jewelry.
