We are a women-owned wholesale marketplace that has been serving the handcrafted industry for many years. IndieMe used to be called wholesalecrafts.com and long ago we saw a need and desire in the industry to connect indie retailers with North American designers. Since the very beginning, we have been supporting the handcrafted industry.
Does IndieMe take a commission? None. No commissions, no listing fees, and no fee avoidance clause. This makes IndieMe different from other wholesale platforms like Faire. The maker pays a flat fee of $49/mo to host their store with up to 500 products. Each maker has its own custom page and they set it up and manage their store as they wish, When you are a maker on IndieMe, you are in charge of your order from start to payment! Paying a flat fee allows you to confidently budget your expenses throughout the year.
What type of marketing does IndieMe do to help promote me? IndieMe has multiple advertising opportunities for our makers. Our award-winning Buyers Guide is a printed catalog that is mailed to over 19k retailers across the USA and Canada. We also offer niche Digital Guides that are emailed to our entire database. Our staff has created different marketing events such as a Limited Release day, Coffee & Cocktails, and Holiday Blitz to promote a new line, holiday item, etc all for FREE.
How does IndieMe vet its buyers? We are very stringent when it comes to allowing retailers to shop on our wholesale platform. We vet each buyer so the artist does not have to worry whether a buyer is legit when they receive an order.
What is the process to apply as a maker on the IndieMe Marketplace? Every maker creates an account and fills out an artist application. Once we receive the completed application you are then put through a jury process. If you pass, we allow time to work on your store before going live and being visible to the buyers. Apply here.
Are all buyers and makers from the USA and Canada? Yes. All our makers have to live and make all their products in the USA or Canada. All retailers that are approved to shop on IndieMe are either from USA or Canada.
Does IndieMe sell clothes? Yes! We have a Wearable Art showcase that includes makers of handbags, scarves, mittens, shirts, and hats.
Is it free for Buyers? Yes, buyers register and shop for free on the IndieMe Marketplace. Fill out a buyer registration here and once approved you are free to shop and place orders.
If I am new to wholesale can I still apply? Yes, we welcome new artists and makers to wholesale and we are here to help every step. We have an Emerging Artist showcase for new artists that have 10 or fewer wholesale accounts. Included in this showcase is a mentor on staff that is available to help and answer questions while you set up your store.
Are all the items on IndieMe handcrafted? Yes! We are very proud to only host 100% handcrafted Made in the USA and Canada products on our wholesale platform. If you are a retailer and you only want handcrafted, then shopping on IndieMe is the best and only choice!
