Sara from botanicary realized that and created her own skincare. Here is her story.

A Foundation of Virtue. Botanicary was conceived by Sara Lee, a female combat veteran. Her time spent as a Marine Sergeant reinforced the values she had learned early on of authenticity, connection, and integrity.

Falling in Love with Fresh. After her time in the service, inspired by her family matriarchs' rich culinary heritage, Sara attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute. She then went on to become a chef at the Mansion on Turtle Creek under the tutelage of Michelin-starred Chef Bruno Davaillon. There she learned a love for fresh, seasonal ingredients and the farm-to-table movement. Now she's pioneering her own movement she likes to call "farm to skin".

Finding Inspiration. Sara's struggle with her skin started in her adolescent years. After trying everything from drugstore brands to exorbitantly priced luxury skincare lines, she finally decided to read the ingredient labels like she had already been scrutinizing her food sources and it was a eureka moment. From then on she embarked on a mission to start crafting her own skincare with fresh, seasonal botanicals and nature-derived ingredients. Today Botanicary stands as a trailblazer in the farm-to-face movement utilizing wildcrafted, in-season plants to create skincare luxurious, effective skincare products.

The Problem:
While the natural movement has gone mainstream, the majority of skincare enthusiasts still reach for the more expensive brands. Most “natural” brands are either chemical-laden with a few natural ingredients thrown in or are lacking in efficacy and a luxurious experience. Today’s consumers are more health-conscious and more label-savvy than ever. This means that yesterday’s “greenwashing” techniques aren’t effective and consumers expect exceptional product performance in addition to clean ingredients.

This investment was so important to us because, as a minority-owned brand, we needed to know our formulas not only work but wouldn’t harm skin with melanin. We have also intentionally designed our products and labels for unisex appeal.
