Jewels of the Vineyard|My Inspiration
I am asked often what inspires my work. My mother was a painter and photographer and, when I was a child, she and I spent time in many creative projects together. I recall making pasta Christmas trees on a coned piece of paper, spray painted gold or silver. Although my creative projects have always been a part of who I am, I followed a corporate and business track as a career and creativity became part of home life but not pursued seriously.
Now, with life centered in the Napa Valley, the peace, open space, and beauty of nature became the point when I began to focus my life on creating jewelry. I want to share a short story that gave me insight into my inspirational process. My son, a new culinary professional, stood in front of a gorgeous display of fresh produce standing still, staring at the selection. I knew exactly what was going through his head. Looking at the bounty of fresh ingredients, he was working out what to make with each one. THAT, is what I do when seeing a tray of beautiful beads and stones. The colors, shapes, textures, and personality of each of those items inspires new designs.
The peace of country life allows the creativity to flow and staying open to creative options helps to create unique and beautiful designs. Each new piece I create inspires another as I pull elements and colors from one to enhance the next. My mother’s creativity has been passed to me and I pass the product of that to each of you.
