Get to Know the Buying Seasons
When you are selling wholesale, you need to know the buying seasons. The retail year is not based on a calendar year but rather it begins in February and ends in January of the following year. Retailers need to stock their shelves weeks if not months ahead of holidays and new seasons.
January: This is when the retail buyers start preparing for Valentine’s Day and spring.
Early spring: This is mid-March to early April and usually when the buyers are looking for mom, dad, and grad gifts.
Late Spring/Summer (NOW) As with most retailers the months leading up to Christmas are some of the busiest times for independent store owners. Buying for these products may start as early August.
Late Fall: Some retailers will continue placing holiday orders. Many will see what is selling early and then reorder in early November to stock the shelves.
Whether you are new to wholesale or a veteran, IndieMe is here to guide you and help throughout the year.
